Roxy was founded in 1990 as a sub-brand of Quiksilver, aimed purely at female surfers. Today, there are no surf brands aimed purely at women. Originally, a swimwear line was first released and shortly after in 1991 a full Roxy sportswear line was released.
With the broken wave in the shape of a heart, borrowed from the Quiksilver logo, Roxy's popular logo was born. It was the first of its kind and quickly followed by other major surf brands with the introduction of a female clothing line. At bottom, Roxy focuses on snowboarding in addition to surfing.
