Our history dates back to the early 1980s. British Knights was launched by a New York-based wholesale athletic footwear company as a fashionable alternative to the big “performance” sportswear brands. In the 1980s, British Knights clearly distinguished itself by a very own and specific character based on extreme sports and the specific British Knights urban look. Inspiration was found in the world of surf, skate and hip-hop.
British Knights positioned itself as an inner-city and music-driven brand that appealed especially to the streetwise youth. And as they say, fortune favors the brave. British Knights grew into a big hit! The slogan Choose Change! became the thriving force behind British Knights' great successes worldwide. The brand initials “B” and “K” were a common item in the media, music and on the streets. For example, in the early 1990s, British Knights sponsored well-known No. 1 American rappers MC Hammer and LL Cool J. Also, British Knights was the first to create a commercial that aired on the global music channel MTV.
